You should only use this process if the automatic install process simply doesn’t work for you, or if you are installing a beta version… If you have a permission issue with your webhost you may need to repeat this process every time there’s a new version of Formidable Pro.
Here’s what you do:
- Log in then return to this page.
- Don’t download Formidable from WordPress at all. I provide Formidable zip files that have Formidable Pro pre-installed. Go to this URL: http://formidablepro.com/manual_downloads/, enter your Username & Password to get to the download page.
- Select the latest version of Formidable Pro and Download it.
- If you have another version of Formidable installed, deactivate it from your WordPress Plugins Page.
- Either go to your plugins page and click the “Delete” link there, or go to your web server (via FTP, SSH, SFTP, etc) and delete the entire formidable folder. Any saved forms and entries will not be deleted unless you click the “Uninstall” button on the “Formidable” -> “Settings” page.
- Now, you have two options. You can upload through the WordPress admin, or through FTP.
To upload through WordPress:- Go to “Plugins” -> “Add New”.
- Instead of searching for a plugin, you can upload your plugin zip file by clicking “Upload”.
- Click the “Browse” button to find the Formidable zip file, and then click “Install Now”.
To upload through FTP:
Unzip the Formidable file you downloaded from formidablepro.com and upload the folder to your WordPress plugins directory.
Activate the Formidable Plugin from the WordPress Plugins Page.- Go to “Formidable” -> “Settings” and enter your Username & Password to Activate your Pro Features (if they aren’t already there)
Remember, you’ll have to go through these steps every time you update if your webhost doesn’t give you sufficient privileges to write files from your website.
