Pick a date from a calendar??

Hello,
I just recently built a form that requires a date field. Is there any way to get a little popup calendar to choose a date from or do my users have to type it in manually? If so, what format do they type it in, for instance mmddyyyy?  On my live form for the date field, it just shows a field where you can only type in numbers and forward slashes. It seems as though there should be some kind of square calendar to choose a date from but there isn’t, so I am not sure if this is an error or, if there is a setting of some kind to get this to show up, or if this is just an assumption of mine and there isnt such a thing built in.
